after news on 5

today faith and i didnt meet.
so i went to run some errand at bugis and paya lebar areas and i went home.
I haven't watched news on 5 at 9.30 for a while so i decided to do something different.

this is what happened after the news.

i thought of
1. how tragic it is for the two families whose loved ones had died from two freak accidents. One as a result of a fallen crane (human error?) and a fallen tree (mircoburst?)
it really saddens me that the late Mr AhamdLispa's family's has to carry the so much financial and emotional burden. I wonder how they are making sense of what has happened, especially his wife. What was heart-wrenching is that 2 of the 4 children are undergoing kidney dialysis and if i'm not mistaken, the eldest one, 21, is receiving assistance from IMH for depression. As a social worker, i wonder how long it would take for compensation to be made and how would the wait and the compensation meant for them? Would they be on assistance for super long time... that is a scary thought because the assistance that i know of have are... (shake head)...sigh.

the second one was equally shocking because Mr Chua left behind his wife who was described by her cousin as one who depends a lot on him. They have a child who is less than 3. I felt so unjust for the family. I reckon they are one of the millions of typical families in singapore with hopes and plans, wishes and desires in their mind but dashed/disrupted/destroyed by a mircoburst!

GOSH.

2. mircoburst leads me to recents flooding incidents in singapore.

Initially, after orchard river was formed, PUB said they would check the canals. Immediately, i thought, who checks on what PUB does? i asked this with due respect. PUB is asked to explain itself to the public who are affected (Ahem, one of those affected is Acting Minister Lui, orite!) What have PUB been doing over the years?
Or would these floods due to climate change? Faith would have explained to me what the weather was liked say 5-10 years ago. Maybe it's increasing trash littered into drains and canals? (sigh, illeffect of growing population, failing campaign that is enforced by hefty fines-which reflects the good organisation's firm stand on a creating a green and clean country)

Where does PUB see itself in the drainage system at Ion orchard? I asked because there was a recent sewage leak had soiled the mall's basement 2 annex area. Do they have a part in this?
The floods haven't taken somebody's life yet. However, a domestic helper, Lalaine Suratos had to overcome rising waters which went higher than her chest! According to reports, if not for her employer who pulled her to safety, she could have drowned.

3. I caught another adver from thinkfamily.sg. thought their ad production are quite zai.
go to my fb and take a look yea (u will find out what one of my secret desires too, it's one of the videos i have it on my wall). the latest one is about YOG. It touched me. unknowingly.
The previous one on filiat piety have had pp writing to papers to air their opinions.
This topic... hahaha... it'll take up another entry, really. what do u think about filial piety?
is it taken for granted?
is it more than a social norm/expectation?
is it about forgiveness and love?
is it to justify or manage one's immediate needs?
is it earned?

what is it?
